Ingredients

1 cup Prolicious High-Protein Pasta

3–4 medium ripe tomatoes

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 tsp oil

½ tsp red chilli powder

Fresh basil leaves

Salt to taste

½ tsp Italian seasoning, optional

2–3 garlic cloves, chopped, optional

Step-by-Step Method

Step 1: Blanch the Tomatoes

Bring water to a boil in a saucepan.

Add the tomatoes and boil them for a few minutes until the skin begins to soften and split.

Remove the tomatoes and immediately place them in cold water.

This helps stop the cooking process and makes the tomato skin easier to remove.

Step 2: Make the Tomato Puree

Once the tomatoes have cooled, peel off the skin.

Transfer the blanched tomatoes to a blender and blend until smooth.

Keep the fresh tomato puree aside.

Step 3: Sauté the Onion

Heat oil in a pan.

Add finely chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent.

If using garlic, add the chopped garlic and sauté until fragrant.

Step 4: Add the Tomato Puree

Pour the freshly prepared tomato puree into the pan.

Mix well with the sautéed onion.

Cook for a few minutes on medium heat until the sauce starts to thicken and the raw tomato flavour reduces.

Step 5: Add the Flavour

Add:

Red chilli powder

Salt

Fresh basil leaves

Italian seasoning, if using

Mix everything well and allow the sauce to simmer for a few minutes.

The basil will infuse the tomato sauce with a beautiful fresh aroma.

Step 6: Boil the Pasta

While the sauce is cooking, bring water to a boil.

Add Prolicious High-Protein Pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente.

Drain the pasta and keep it aside.

Step 7: Combine Everything

Add the boiled pasta directly into the marinara sauce.

Mix gently until every piece of pasta is coated with the rich tomato sauce.

Cook for another 1–2 minutes.

Your delicious marinara pasta is ready to serve!

Why Tomatoes Make This Pasta Special

Tomatoes are the heart of a classic marinara sauce.

They provide a naturally sweet, tangy flavour and give the pasta its beautiful red colour. Blanching the tomatoes before pureeing them creates a smoother sauce and helps remove the skin easily.

Fresh basil complements the tomatoes beautifully, while red chilli adds a gentle kick.

The result is a sauce that's simple but full of flavour.

Why This Pasta Feels More Balanced

This marinara pasta brings together:

Prolicious High-Protein Pasta for protein and fibre

Fresh tomatoes for flavour and nutrients

Onion for additional flavour

Basil for freshness

Red chilli for a gentle kick

For an even more complete family meal, pair it with sautéed vegetables, a fresh salad, or add paneer, tofu, or chickpeas for extra protein.

5. Naturally Flavourful

Fresh basil, onion, garlic, and chilli add flavour and aroma, allowing you to create a delicious sauce without relying heavily on processed sauces.

6. Easy Way to Add Vegetables

A tomato-based sauce makes it simple to include more vegetables in an everyday family meal. You can also add spinach, mushrooms, carrots, or bell peppers for extra variety.

Want More Protein?

Add grilled paneer, tofu, chickpeas, or roasted vegetables alongside the pasta.

Want a Creamy Marinara?

Add a small amount of cream or plant-based cream to the tomato sauce for a creamy tomato pasta.

Want More Basil?

Add fresh basil while cooking and garnish with a few leaves just before serving.

FAQs

Why do we blanch the tomatoes?

Blanching softens the tomatoes and makes their skin easier to remove. It also helps create a smoother tomato puree.

Can I use canned tomatoes?

Yes. Canned tomatoes can be used when fresh tomatoes aren't available, although fresh ripe tomatoes give the sauce a bright, fresh flavour.

Can I make this pasta for kids?

Absolutely. Simply reduce the red chilli and keep the seasoning mild.

Can I prepare the marinara sauce ahead of time?

Yes. The tomato sauce can be prepared ahead and refrigerated. Reheat it and add freshly cooked pasta when you're ready to serve.

Can I add cheese?

Yes. Parmesan, mozzarella, or another cheese of your choice can be added before serving.
