What Makes This Recipe Better
Traditional pizza bombs are often prepared using maida or refined flour as the base. While there is nothing wrong with enjoying such foods occasionally, choosing a whole-wheat base at home can make your everyday snack more wholesome.
This recipe uses wheat flour along with UP It to prepare the dough. The filling brings together paneer, bell peppers and cheese, adding protein, vegetables and plenty of flavour.
Instead of relying only on cheese for the filling, the combination of paneer, vegetables and UP It helps create a more balanced snack.
It is also homemade, which means you have control over the ingredients, seasoning and portion size.
Why This Recipe Stands Out
These Pizza Cheese Bombs stand out because they:
- Use wheat flour instead of a maida-based dough
- Add UP It to the dough for a protein boost
- Combine paneer, cheese and vegetables in the filling
- Bring familiar pizza flavours into a homemade snack
- Can be made on a regular gas stove
- Are easy to adapt to your child's taste
- Make vegetables more exciting for kids
- Work beautifully as an after-school or weekend snack

Ingredients
For the Dough
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Water, as required
- 1 tbsp UP It!
For the Stuffing
- 1/2 cup paneer, crumbled
- 1/4 cup cheese, grated
- 1/4 cup bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp red chilli sauce
- 1/2 tsp chilli flakes
- Salt, to taste
Method
Prepare the stuffing: Add paneer, grated cheese, chopped bell pepper, red chilli sauce, salt and chilli flakes to a bowl.

Mix everything well and keep aside.

Prepare the dough: In another bowl, add whole wheat flour, salt and UP It!. Mix well.

Gradually add water and knead into a soft dough.

Roll the dough: Divide the dough into equal portions and roll one portion into a small roti.

Add the stuffing: Place the paneer-cheese stuffing in the centre. Bring the edges together and seal well to form a ball.

Roll again: Gently roll the stuffed ball into a thick roti/paratha, taking care not to let the stuffing come out.

Cook: Heat a pan/tawa. Place the rolled paratha on the hot pan. Add a little water to one side of the pan and immediately place/press the paratha so that it sticks to the pan. Cook until the base is done.

Carefully turn the pan or cook from the other side until the paratha is cooked through and lightly browned.

Serve hot with your favourite dip or chutney.
Tips & Variations
Tips
- Keep the dough soft so that the pizza bomb remains tender after cooking.
- Don't overfill the dough, as this can make sealing difficult.
- Seal the edges properly to prevent the filling from escaping.
- Chop the vegetables finely so they blend easily into the filling.
- Adjust the chilli flakes according to your child's spice tolerance.
- Cook on medium heat to allow the dough to cook properly without burning the outside.
Kid-Friendly Variations
You can easily customise the filling depending on what your child likes.
Try adding finely chopped:
- Corn
- Carrot
- Spinach
- Mushrooms
- Olives
- Grated vegetables
If your child prefers milder flavours, skip the chilli flakes and use oregano, mixed herbs and a little cheese for flavour.
You can also make mini pizza cheese bombs for younger children. Smaller portions are easier for little hands to hold and can make snack time more fun.
Storage
These pizza cheese bombs taste best when served fresh and hot.
If you have leftovers, allow them to cool completely before storing them in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Reheat on a pan before serving. Avoid overheating, as the dough can become dry.
For the best texture and flavour, consume freshly prepared pizza cheese bombs whenever possible.
FAQs
Are these pizza cheese bombs better than regular market pizza bombs?
These homemade pizza cheese bombs use wheat flour and UP It in the dough, along with paneer and vegetables in the filling. Compared with a typical maida-based pizza bomb, this gives you a more wholesome base and lets you control the ingredients, seasoning, cheese and portion size.
Can I use different vegetables?
Absolutely. You can add corn, carrots, spinach, mushrooms or other finely chopped vegetables your child enjoys.
Can I make these without a tandoor?
Yes. You can prepare them on a regular gas stove using a suitable pan. The water-on-the-backside technique helps the pizza bomb stick to the hot surface.
Can I make these less spicy for kids?
Yes. Keep the chilli flakes low or skip them altogether. Use oregano, mixed herbs and cheese to retain the familiar pizza flavour.
Can I prepare the dough in advance?
Yes. The dough can be prepared ahead and stored appropriately in the refrigerator. Bring it closer to room temperature before rolling so it is easier to work with.
What can I serve with Pizza Cheese Bombs?
Serve them hot with a favourite dip such as tomato ketchup, homemade tomato dip, hung-curd dip or another mild dip your child enjoys.
